Police give security workshop to community members
Chamber of Commerce and Tourism of Tamarindo and Guanacaste encourage preventative measures
At the end of June, in Tamarindo, the Tourism Police of the Ministry of Public Security (Ministerio de Seguridad Pública MSP) gave a workshop on security as part of an effort from the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism (Instituto Costarricense de Turismo, ICT), the Public Force and the Chambers of Commerce and Tourism of Tamarindo and Guanacaste, to develop actions for civic security in the region.
Police Chief Carlos Díaz gave security advice to representatives of hotels, neighborhood associations, high school principals and members of the Tamarindo Chamber of Commerce and Tourism (Cámara de Comercio y Turismo de Tamarindo CCTT) in a 35–person meeting.
According to Díaz, during the past few weeks, they have sent Tamarindo a larger quantity of police officers and equipment –in the manner of patrols and motorcycles–in order to support local efforts to offer appropriate surveillance of nationals and foreign tourists.
