Is the Diesel Fuel in Costa Rica Damaging Engines?

Costa Rica News – Drivers are increasingly reporting costs of up to ¢500,000 (near $1000) for damages caused by Recope’s new diesel. There are 45 claims for damage so far.
While many argue the fuel is causing problems and there seems to be a direct link, Recope refuses to pay for damages or change the fuel.
Recope has been distributing this new “environmentally friendly” diesel since November. The institution admits that the fuel damages the packaging of the injection pump.
A report by Recope states that this is because the product has a reduction in sulfur and aromatics.
The new composition was implemented because it’s less harmful to human health and the environment.
